MICRO MAGIC
The Micro Magic is in the One-Designed class. These boats are generally made by one manufacturer. This helps keep the boat uniform and fair for all skippers - one mold - all parts the same. The only two variables left are controlled by the skipper - tuning the boat's sails at race time and the skill of the skipper during the race itself.
A plethora of information can be found on the MicroMagic-US - Google Sites. Between that site and this site, you will have just about all the information you need to race your boat.
The Micro Magic is about 21 inches in length, very light, and easily transported in a car. The boat comes nicely packaged as an ATR (Almost Ready To Race) boat. You will have to run sheeting (string) throughout the boat to attach the sails and this is covered in detail under the INTRUCTION tab. Under the REFRENCE tab are other links to help you get your boat ready to sail.
PAINTING YOUR BOAT:
You don't have to paint your boat but your club may want the boats painted a color that represents the school colors. All skippers should agree on this before painting. Paint your boat before putting it together.
Some skippers like to use Krylon or Rust-Oleum spray paint which is oil based. Some use acrylic which is water based. There is also a wide range of vinyl covering you can use - be creative.
Tools: No special tools are required but there is one tool that would be helpful when cutting the rigging (string). There may be others but the one that a lot of skippers use is the Berkley Hot Knife. A razor can be used also, but the hot-knife is quicker and easier. This hot-knife was designed to cut fishing line and can be found at Amazon, Cabela's, Bass Pro.
